Christmas Crime Prevention Advice – Redcar Neighbourhood Policing Team

As we approach the festive period, Redcar Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to remind residents and visitors to take a few simple precautions to help keep Redcar safe over Christmas.

Shopping & Deliveries

Keep personal belongings secure while out shopping.

Avoid displaying large amounts of cash.

Ensure parcels are brought inside promptly or left with a trusted neighbour.

Home Security

Always lock doors and windows, even when at home.

If you are going away, use timer switches on lights and ask someone to keep an eye on your property.

Keep Christmas presents out of view from windows.

Vehicle Safety

Lock vehicles and remove all valuables, including gifts and bags.

Never leave your engine running unattended while defrosting.

Park in well-lit and busy areas where possible.

Socialising & Nights Out

Plan your journey home in advance and stay with friends.

Keep an eye on your drinks and personal belongings.

If you feel unsafe, seek assistance from venue staff or police officers on patrol.

Reporting Concerns

If you witness suspicious behaviour or concerns relating to crime or antisocial behaviour, please report it.
